Tino van der Sman was born in 1974 in The Hague, Netherlands. At the age of 12 he will begin his guitar studies and just 2 years later, he will travel to Spain to receive master classes with maestro Paco Peña during the Córdoba Guitar Festival.
It was in 1999 when he took up residence in Seville and obtained a study scholarship for the “Cristina Heeren” Foundation. A year later he is already a professor at this center and begins his professional career by collaborating as a monitor in Gerardo Núñez’s summer courses and being part of the Israel and Pastora Galván companies (premiering at the XI Seville Biennial with “Metamorfosis” along with Chicuelo, Manolo Soler, El Extremeño or Encarnita Anillo).
In recent years, the presentation of his disco during the Holland Biennial, in Seville at the Duque theater and at the “el Chasse” theater, in Breda (Holland) with his own group stands out. He also participated in the dancer Leonor Leal’s show at the Sala Joaquín Turina in February 2009 and in the Luxembourg Flamenco Festival in 2009 and 2010. Since 2005 he has worked at the Casa de la Memoria, the prestigious tablao in Seville.
Tino has recorded three albums, Desatino (2004) with the special collaboration of Miguel Poveda, Tino (2007) and Curioso Impertinente (2016)
